This is update #12 for the Sunset Street
Wide Sidewalk project.
The focus for the contractors this week is
to complete all remaining sidewalk paving, including the remaining curb ramps
at the Melrose, Oakcrest, and Benton intersections. This paving work is already underway with
some sections of sidewalk and curbs already poured on Monday and Tuesday of
this week. While the paving work is
occurring, the general contractor indicates they will continue backfilling and
grading along each side of the sidewalk, and cleaning up the site in
general. At each intersection, there are
also several signs to be replaced and new crosswalk pavement markings to be
painted. The contractor indicates they
may start on the sign/cross-walk work on Friday, or beginning of next
week. The significant restoration
remaining after that is sodding and planting of trees. The sodding work is allowed to start after
September 1, and the tree planting can start after October 1.
