        Dear University Heights residents,

The frigid temperatures are finally leaving, the snow has melted, and we’re preparing to plant in the triangular University Heights garden at the intersection of Melrose and Golfview.

This year, we were fortunate to obtain a grant from the Community Fund to repair damage to the wall caused by a delivery truck backing into it. To continue improving and beautifying the garden, however, we are in need of donations. As many of you know, all costs associated with the garden are funded solely from community donations. We've been fortunate that our citizens have been so generous in the past, and now, we're asking for your help again.

There is a special account at Hills Bank for the University Heights Garden Club. Carol Ann Christiansen is the account custodian. If you wish to make a donation, please make your check out to Carol Ann.

With your help, the garden will soon be alive with beautiful colors and textures. Thanks to your past support and continuing help, we hope to make the gardens even more impressive this year.

        Gratefully yours,

        University Heights Garden Club

      Updates to University Heights website:
      • Updated University Heights Community Fund  page
        • Recent Grant Awards 2014
          • Thanks to the generosity of the Community Foundation of Johnson County and citizens of University Heights, the University Heights Community Fund had approximately $2800 available for funding purposes this year. Next year there will be an equivalent amount to donate only if matching donations are made to the University Heights Community Fund.
The University Heights Community Fund received more requests for funding than there were funds available. This year the following awards were made:
            • $250 to the University Heights Community Relations Committee to fund local events, such as the city-wide garage sale
            • $1659.14 to the University Heights Garden Club to rebuild the retaining wall and upgrade the watering system.
            • $300 to Triangle Park Improvement Project to refurbish the shelter at Triangle Park.
