July 5, 2012

Updates to University Heights website:

  • 2012 Garden Walk Door Prize Winners:
    • herb planter - Joan Cole
    • strawflower plant - Larry Wilson
    • lantern - Carolyn and Anna Boerner
    • mirrored butterfly - Amelia Gauger & Gabe Fierro-Fine
    • gardening gloves - Abby Hayes
      • impatiens planter - Scott McNaughton
  • Several of the gardens had plants identified as “available at the plant exchange”. The Garden Club plans to hold a fund-raising plant exchange this fall, tentatively scheduled for October 13.

Take some time to assess your garden for perennials that have become overgrown or need thinning. Or perhaps the conditions in your yard have changed and you need different kinds of plants. Maybe you’re just ready for something new. Good news! You can divide those overgrown plants, get reasonably priced new ones AND benefit the Garden Club, all at the same time.

More information will be available on the city website at a later date. For now, if you wish, take pictures of plants you plan to divide and save large plastic containers for potting the plants. If you have questions, call or email Pat (338-6252 – pat.yeggy@gmail.com) or Carol Ann (354-7188 – c_christiansen@mchsi.com) and we’ll see if we can’t help.
